This year marks the 30th anniversary of the European Union's LIFE programme. An initiative that was born with the aim of joining forces between countries to improve the environment and as a clear commitment to reduce the effects of climate change.

To celebrate this anniversary, the #LIFEis30 exhibition has been organised with images of some of the most impressive and inspiring projects that have been carried out during this period. Among them is the zero emission charging point for electric vehicles, carried out at the SEAS facilities and the Centro San Valero vocational training campus in the framework of the San Valero Educational Group's Life Connect project.

The Connect project (Creation of New Network for Electric Cars Technology) was based on the progressive deployment of electric vehicles as an alternative means of urban mobility. This project dates back to 2010 and its main objective, even at that time, was to save greenhouse gas emissions. Since it began in September 2010, it has managed to avoid the emission of more than 50 tonnes of CO2.

A pilot network of five "zero-emission" solar-powered electric charging points for these vehicles was installed and sought the involvement of companies and workers in an urban mobility development. It was also offered workers the possibility of recharging electric vehicles during the working day facilitating and disseminating the advantages of this type of energy for the organisations' fleets.

Since 2010, the online studies entity of Grupo San Valero, SEAS Estudios Superiores Abiertos, has been providing online training in the fields of renewable energy, electric and hybrid mobility and energy management. This is a consequence of the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon.

Within the field of electric and hybrid mobility, the following courses are developed and taught:

  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Course.
  • Course on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
  • University Expert course on Electric and Hydrogen Mobility.

Son más 750 alumnos los que han realizado el curso de Vehículo Hibrido y Eléctrico y el Experto de Movilidad Eléctrica y con Hidrógeno.

More than 750 students have taken the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle course and the Expert Course on Electric and Hydrogen Mobility course.

The Centro San Valero, focused to vocational education training, also began to provide training on Electric Vehicle in 2017. In order to meet the growing demand for these specialities by the work environment has incorporated the following courses to its training offer:

  • Hybrid Vehicle Mechanics Course.
  • Expert in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FP++)
